I don't really live a 'dorm'. It's a regular house (quite as old as yours) in the city centre but occupied by 4 students. It's awesome, I love my house! 
And our 'landlord' allows us to paint and decorate everything we want, as long as the house stays intact 
I even am allowed to keep a cat in here! And that's a total exception as it comes to student houses.. Off-white is horrible! It's like the white wall has become dirty or something lol! What do you study?
